Chrysler Repair: 95 Chrysler T&C: Locks and alarm cycle for no reason, power door locks, c locks

Question
I have a 95 Chrysler T&C. Recently the alarm goes off while driving (horn and lights blink). Also, when the power door locks are locked or opened with the switch, there is a grinding noise coming from the drivers side sliding door. I have read these are related. Is there a way to synchronize the door locks? Will this correct the alarm problem? Can the alarm be disabled?

Answer
Hi Robert,
I check my '95 shop manual and find no evidence in the text or the wiring diagram that there is a factory installed alarm ("theft", I presume is what you speak of) in that model year. Are you certain that this is not an aftermarket type of theft alarm in your minivan?
Perhaps what you are observing is not a theft alarm but just the power lock system trying to automatically lock the doors when you are in motion. That happens most usually because one of the doors is not secured tightly enough to the door frame such that it falsely gives an ajar signal. So my suggestion would be to push outward on each of the doors and lift gate, and try to press rearward on the sliding door, to see if any of those actions causes the internal courtesy light to come on. If so, improve the tightness of the latching mechanism for that door.
Or you can have a helper try to do the same thing while you are in motion above 15 mph and see if you can get the system to lock the doors and dp the horn/light trick.
If you want to cancel the automatic door lock function when moving:
close all doors,
make sure the ignition is off for 20 seconds,
cycle the key from off to run four times (don't crank the starter),
press the power door lock button to lock the doors.
This set of actions is also the way to return to the present set up.
So you can experiment with the system and if you don't like it go back to the way it was.
On the grinding sound I would lubricate the lock/latch mechanism on that door.
