Chrysler Repair: BrokenTemperature Sensor, upper radiator hose, chrysler cars

Question
I have a 2002 pontiac sunfire. I recently went to auto zone to get a diagnostic, and I was informed that the problem was the temperature sensor. On the dash board when I start the car up it shoots directly to the red then back down...I guess it is broken. There is no more heat, and if it remains in the red area for a couple of minutes the car will shut off.Where is the sensor located?

Answer
Hi Jamaica,
I don't know for sure about the Pontiac as it is a GM car and I have expertise only in Chrysler cars. However, I would believe that if you follow the upper radiator hose to the housing on the top of the engine you will find a sensor very near to that housing which has a electrical plug on its tip.
