Chrysler Repair: 1994 Chrysler Concorde radio out, illumination intensity, variable illumination

Question
The radio in my 1994 Chrysler Concorde quit working, as did clock display.  I have the service manual.  Fuse for radio is okay. When car is running there are 12 volts on Pin 7 (battery) and Pin 6 (accessory) on the gray radio connector.  Could both my radio and the clock display die?  Wouldn't they be powered separately?

Answer
Hi Scott,
Pin 7 is the pre-set memory power, pin 6 is the ignition switch controlled radio power, pin 5 is the variable illumination intensity when head/park lamps are on which is 'signaled' by voltage on pin 4. So you should see illumination both when the headlamps are on  as the result of voltage of 4 and 5. I believe the illumination when the headlamp is not on is done by pin 6 current.  Is the ground wire connected to the chassis and to the ground nearby (black/light blue). If you have power on 6 and the chassis is grounded then the radio should work. If not, open it up and look for any leaky electrolytic capacitors.
