Answer
Hi Barrie,
If an ABS wire is detached that will have to be reconnected/replaced before knowing whether there is anything wrong with the sensor. The system will detect such a detachment and light the light. So fix that first. The sensor plugs-in to the end of the wire so you may not have to replace the sensor at all in any case. It may be something that you can do yourself with a proper replacement wire, probably from a dealer but it maybe available at a parts store.
To reset the ABS controller and turn off the ABS light, after the repair is made, Step on the brake pedal, then turn the ignition switch 'on, and  have a helper watch to see if the stop lights at the rear begins to go on and off every second for 10 such pulses. That is a sign of the reset process (I believe the pulsing is automatic but the manual is obscure. So if it doesn't do that, instead begin again as suggested with foot on the brake and within three second of turning the ignition switch on begin to release/press the pedal yourself for a bit less than 1 second per cycle at a time for 10 such cycles.) Then drive the car and see if the light goes off.

thanks roland, but it did not work.should i take it to a auto eletrics shop? thanks again barrie

Hi Barrie,
I assume that you reconnected the wire. You didn't say if you replaced it or just reconnected it. If the latter, then you might want to check that both wires are continuous between both ends of the wire using an ohmmeter. It could be the insult that disconnected it damaged the wire so that it needs to be replaced. If you bought a replacement then the two possibilities are that the sensor is damaged or that the ABS reset light technique I suggested was is not applicable to the Neon system (my reference is a '00 Sebring manual).
If that were the case it will probably go off by itself after you drive it for some distance. Or you could get a readout of the abs controller to see if the code will erase or not. If you are familiar with the feel of the ABS and it feel like it is working, then I would assume that it is OK. In any case, the braking system is OK so long as the red brake light is not on. That means that your braking power is identical to that of a Neon without an ABS system. So there is no great urgency to take it for repair to a shop. You could wait and see if/when the light goes out by itself.
Those are the options thay I see now.
