Chrysler Repair: 2001 Chrsyler T&C HVAC Fan, blower motor resistor, amp fuse

I have a 2001 T&C. All of a sudden this am the fan on the front heat and air control will not adjust. There is a small amount of air coming out of the vents but, it is not adjustable. The temperature control still works and the rear fan is working fine. What is the probable problem?

Hi Denise,
The usual failure mode of the fan is that it runs on high speed only. That is caused by the failure of the 'blower motor resistor block' located above and behind the glove box. If it is only blowing at a low speed then I wonder if the blower motor itself is faulty. Do you hear it running, or is the air just coming in because you are moving. If it isn't running at all the I would check the fuse for the fan which is 40 amp fuse #21 in the box under the hood near the battery.
So consider those possibilities and let me know if you need more direction.

Thanks, I did check the fuse and relay in the fuse module. It was blowing on low when the car was parked also. I am going to try the resistor and then move onto the fan if I have to. Do you know what makes the power doors work intermittently? Thanks again! Your advice is greatly appreciated!

The only thing I can see for a possible intermittent on the power locks is the 9 amp positive temp coefficient (fuse-like) device in position 3 of the fuse box under the dash. Those are located in a row of 10 sockets, directly under the plugs. It might be that there is a crack in the internal wire that opens and closes on its own.
I somehow doubt you will find the resistor block to be the cause, because for the low speed to work all the resistors have to be working, which implies that you ought to have all the speeds. But it is possible that the circuit was redesigned after my most recent manual which is a '98. It might suggest that the problem is in the switch's internal contacts.
