my mom has a front wheel drive chrysler lebaron and while driving there is a loud roar comin from i think the transmission it sounds just like when wheel bearing goes bad... also after her muffler came off from hitting hole it actually sounded better... but it rained today and its like when it got soaked underneath from splashing up on it ... i could have swore her transmission went out overdrive would not go but further down road after shifting it out manually .. overdrive started working again... yes i am female but i rebuilt my camaro.. but this has been stunned and i am the only one she has!!!!  thanku

Answer
Hi Tammy,
I am not certain if the issue is the 'roar', or the transmission, or the muffler, or? Can you help me focus on this?
The roaring could be the left wheel bearing, or it might be the left outer cv-joint (though that usually clicks at low speed when turning but does become a roar at high speed. Have you looked at the cv-boot to see if it is torn on the left side?). Does the roar change between turning and going straight, in which case I would suspect the wheel bearing. The exhaust system is best diagnosed by inspection. Please clarify and we can go forward.

PS You can get back to me without having to wait for me to be 'available' to take a question. Use the 'thank/rate' tab below where you will find a comment section, to which I will reply. Also notice in the evaluation section there is a 'nomination' box where if you would change from 'no' to 'yes' I would be most appreciative as I am competing to be 'expert of the month. Thanks.
