Chrysler Repair: Security System disablement, door key, lxi

Question
Our 96 LXi has intermittent alarm problems.  We are the original owner and have never resolved some of these problems.  Rather than attempt to repair the problems on the car with 130K miles, is there a way to disable the security system without disabling the seats and mirrors, etc?

Answer
Hi Jay,
The security system post-95 is virtually impossible to disable because it is intergrated into the body computer which does too many other things that are inseparable. About the only way, short of diagnosis and repair, is to adopt a habit of avoidance. That means never lock the door when exiting by using the door key, the power door lock system, or the remote key fob. If you will only use the mechanical interior lock buttons/levers then the alarm system will never be activated.
Before '96 (at least in some of the models) the theft system had a separate module that could be disconnected but not so for your LXi (by the way what model is it, there are several LXi's?)
So that is my best advice.
