Chrysler Repair: excess steering wheel play, tie rod ends, front wheel bearings

Question
I have a 1990 Fifth Avenue. I just replaced the rack and pinion, all 4 tie rod ends and the two front axles.  Now there seems to be quite a bit of play in the steering wheel, where there was none before.  Could the mechanic have adjusted something wrong?  There seems to be about 2 inches of play in the steering wheel.

Answer
Hi Randy,
The manuals I have suggest the following possibilities:
air in the power steering system...add fluid
gear loose on cross member...check mounting bolts
worn broken intermediate shaft...check/replace
free play in the steering column itself...check
loose ball joints...check
pinch bolts loose on ball joints...check
front wheel bearings loose...check
tie rod ends...(already replaced)
defective steering gear rotary valve...replace
Those are things that you could ask the mechanic to look into.
