Chrysler Repair: Front windshield wipers: 97 minivan, windshield wiper, windshield wipers

Question
1997 Chrysler mini van front wipers stop and restart again on there own. Let me start from the beginning. At first they would come on for no reason then return to park then when it rained I would turn them on and they would start stop and one time I had to go home as they would not come back on at all. So far I put in a new wiper switch and that seemed to help now they don't come on by themself but stop completely then after a few minutes will start make a few sweppts and stop again. I have made up a ground wire to make sure it is getting a good ground and that didn't do a thing. I have ordered a new wiper motor to see if this will fix the problem. I don't know what else to do.

Answer
Hi David,
Sorry for the delay in responding, your question just showed up in the question "pool" where I noticed it. Have you tried switching out the windshield wiper "on" relay which is in the third socket of the in-board row in the power box near the battery? Another possibility is that the fuse has a crack in its wire, which is opening when it get warm and then closing when it cools down. Take a look at fuse #19 in that same box. I am basing these id's on my '98 manual so check out the labels on you box to see if yours is the same.

PS Use the 'thank/rate' tab to get back to me with results/question, without having to wait for me to be available to take a question. There is a space there for comments, and you can also evaluate or nominate me for 'expert of the month' if you so choose.

PPS The voting for 'expert of the month' ends tomorrow afternoon. If you would be so kind as to find the "nomination?" area of the 'thank/rate' tab and change the 'no' to a 'yes' that would give a vote. Thanks.
