Chrysler Repair: Chrysler stratus engine stops while driving, 4 digit numbers, engine sensors

my 1999 stratus stops while driving.first the ENGINE CHECK light on an then rpm and speedo needle was zerro, its was happen several times and after that the engine just off,i had new battery,new spark plug,new fuel filter,help please

Hi Heredian,
I suspect it is one of the two engine rotational position sensors, but I would try to verify and find out which by doing a fault code readout of the computer memory. Try the ignition key:'on-off-on-off-on and leave on', doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window to see if the reading changes to show any 4-digit numbers. If that doesn't happen then go to an Autozone parts store for a readout via an underdash plug by the steering wheel for free, or go to an independent garage for a cost of about $40. If you get a code 0320 or 0340 then that would tell us which sensor, or another code would also be relevant. Those engine sensors usually start to quit when warm, then recover when cooled, as they begin to fail.
