Chrysler Repair: 1998 Sebring convertible: water leak on floor, lebaron convertible, rubber flap

Question
I am getting water in my floor boards and I know its because my rear window is coming apart @ the bottom how do I know if it is the top that needs to be replaced or the window replaced as I have been told by four people to me but two of them said the top and two said I had to replace the heated glass. and where are the drain plugs on the bottom of the car? Thanks Brad Davis

Answer
Hi Brad,
I believe that the water drain hole located below the 1/4 window on each side may be blocked which then causes an overflow into the cabin and trunk. Here is how I answered a similar question recently from a '94 Lebaron Convertible:
"Yes, the convertible top and 1/4 window areas tend to allow water to drip down into the bottom of the window mechanism area. On the outside of the body, on the underside in the area between the front of the wheel well and door opening, you should find a rubber flap which covers a drain hole that if "open" allows that collected water to drain out. So look/feel in that area for the flap/opening and then use a wire or fine cable to clean out the opening so the water can drain freely. Check on both sides. Keep it open in the future. You probably have an overflow that has touched the carpeting in the trunk which explains the source."
The shop manual has a couple of pages that describe how to locate the source of leaks. I can xerox and postal mail you those. Use the "thank/rate" tab below to get back to me with your postal mailing address if you would like these. Use the comments section.
