Chrysler Repair: 2000 Neon, odometer reading, defrosters

Question
I have a 2000 Neon with 68,400 miles on it.  This morning, I started the car, put the car in reverse, turned on front and rear defrosters on full blast and the car conked out on me.

Answer
Hi Heather,
Tell me is the starter motor cranking over the engine or not?
When you turn the key to the "run" position do you hear a humming sound coming from the fuel tank, like is normal, that lasts for about 1 second?
I would also try the ignition key to see if you can get any fault codes from the engine computer:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the check engine light to see if it begins to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat to assure an accurate count. If the light doesn't flash, then watch the odometer reading to see if it changes to show a four-digit number.
Tell me what doesn't work electrically, if that is noticeable.
Use the "thank/rate" tab below to get back with the answers to the above questions without having to wait for me to be available. Also tell me which size engine is in the car (how many L?).
