in order to change the battery,do you need to remove the tire at all because of the position that its in

Hi Amber,
You didn't say which model car/minivan you have. But yes if the battery is mounted in front of the wheel well area it is much easier, but may not required, to remove the wheel/tire. On the Sebring you can turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and  then get the battery out. So let me know if you have a different model.
