Chrysler Repair: 1996 chrysler concorde: dies for no reason, 1996 chrysler concorde, obd scanner

Question
Hi Roland, goit another question for you. 96 concorde, 3.3L

Been through this entire car, the egr valave is good, crank sensor, and tps have been replaced.  The car has been on OBD scanner and all sensors are good, but its still getting noo check engine light.  The car will just die while sitting at a red light.  It will fire right back up and run for a little while then die in a couple minutes again at a light.  if you shut the car totally off an refire it then the problem goes away, also it has a stumble from idle when you lightly hit the gas, bt seems to clear itself out.  The problem seems a little more evident on warmer days.  What are your thoughts about the PCM starting to go bad?  Is there a way to test it?  Somethimes the car runs awesome and has no problems, and other times its starts acting up
Thanks
Gregg

Answer
Hi Gregg,
By no check engine light (do you mean even when you turn it to run but don't try and start it, which suggests to me the bulb is burned out?) and no codes makes me wonder if the ignition switch might be faulty by intermittently failing to supply the power to the pcm. I would put a meter on fuse 18 under the dash and see if it shows 12V after the spontaneous shut down but before you touch the igntion key. If the PCM were going bad there is likely to have been a code set (53,62,63). I sort of like the idea that it as if you turned off the ignition switch which is what would happen if the A21 feed (dark blue wire out of the switch) was cut off which kills the power to the pcm, bcm, air bag module, and ac. If you never see the check engine light, ever, then I suspect the bulb. Once you get it, try the self-readout for codes with the ignition key.
