Chrysler Repair: locks and interior lights: cycling on/off, grand cherokee jeep, door latch

Question
when I am driving my grand cherokee jeep the locks are locking and unlocking and the interior lights are clicking off and on what is the problem

Answer
Hi Evangeline,
Fortunately this is simple. One of the doors is not secured tightly enough to push in the door ajar switch all the way at the door frame. Usually all you need to do is loosen the door latch stiker pin which mates to the door latch by loosening the screws that hold it to the frame, then move it in-board slightly and retighten the screws. You can determine which door it is by getting in the jeep, then push outward on each of the doors and notice which one causes the interior light to illuminate. That happens spontaneously when you are in motion, and in addition there is a circuit that tries to lock the door locks every time that happens when you are moving faster than 15 mph and the door ajar signal is sensed.
