Chrysler Repair: 2000 Sebring convertible drivers side window buttons inop., door switches, fuse box

Question
the drivers side window control cluster will not raise/lower any of the windows.
This causes a problem in itself but also the rear windows are not lowering
slightly when the top is raised to allow them to seat into their tracks when the
top is up.  I did not see any burnt fuses and I hear no motor noises when the
buttons are pushed.  The window buttorn on the passenger side control for the
passenger window works fine.  Any help would be appreciated

Answer
Hi Kevin,
The fact that the right door control is working leads me to conclude that the power wire for the left door control is somehow  disconnected between the junction (fuse) box under the dash and the switch control in the door. There are two wires at the black 8-socket (7 wires actual) plug into that fuse box that provide power to the left and right door switches (both wires are tan/violet, the left is on pin 6 the right door is on pin 7 of that socket, respectively). You could check that both wires are "hot" at the plug. If so then it has to mean that the pin 6 wire from there to the switch has broken, most likely at the hinge where it is constantly being flexed. You would need to remove the door trim panel and test pin 1 at the switch (where the other end of the tan/violet wire is attached) to verify that there is no power there. Then you could route a new wire around the broken one to regain power to the switch. But before doing that:
There is a blue 12-wire connector at the interface beteen the door and the pillar (I believe it is mounted in the door) which you could inspect as well to see if the wire is hot on either side of the connector, and thus focus on finding where the break is located. So try finding that connector(it might be accessible without removing the trim panel) and find the wire in question at pin 10 of the blue connector.
If you want the instruction for removing the trim panel let me know and I will xerox and postal mail it to you. Use the "thank/rate" tab below where there is a space for comments.
