Chrysler Repair: 99 T&C radiator draincock, radiator petcock, radiator

Question

I opened the radiator petcock and drained the radiator.  Am turning the petcock to close it and it won't tighten up?  Does it need to be pushed in first?

Answer
Hi Murray,
Yes, you need to push it in until it snaps in place, then turn clockwise until it stops.
The removal process is described: You unscrew it counterclockwise: when it stops turning, if you want to remove the cock, you turn it back 1/8 turn and pull it out. But it also says that unless leakage is observed that the draincock "shouldn't be removed" (I presume this means on a regular basis).
So try pushing it in until it snaps in. If it doesn't seem to work then you might need to get a new petcock.
Don't use pliers to remove or tighten it.
