Chrysler Repair: 2.7L: timing chain installation, cam sprockets, bolt holes

Question
Kevin, the FSM mentions turning the intake cams with a 3/8 wrench until the hub matches agains the cam sprockets.

But it doesn't say which way to turn, clockwise or ccwise. I turned the one on the rear head clockwise (as seen from the passenger wheel side) and the one on the front head ccwise. These turns required minimum rotation of the  cams to match up to the bolt holes.

Did I do them right? Thanks!

Answer
Hi O,
I just found your question in the "pool". If when you took off the timing chain the cam shafts were properly positioned relative to the crankshaft (and there was no significant rotation of the cam shafts or the crankshaft in the interim) then I would believe that the way you did it was correct. Presumably they would be very close to correct and so the direction which achieved the mating with a minimum of rotation would be correct, whether CCW or CW. The fact that the manual doesn's specify would make be believe that this is the case.
