Chrysler Repair: 97 voyager automatic shutdown relay clicking, ammeter voltmeter, automatic shutdown

my wifes van sat for a few weeks and had a low battery. i charged it and she drove it once and the eatx relay clicks rapidly and continuously. now it any thing but that(no lights,wont crank, no radio, ect.) i replaced the relay and it still clicks even after the relay is removed it clicks inside the van

Hi Matt,
I assume that you mean "automatic" shutdown relay is clicking; the 'etax' relay is for the transmission function. It sounds to me like you have something that is discharging your battery because the relay clicking like that means that the voltage necessary to maintain the relay in the closed position is too low.
I would recharge the battery and then try and start it. It may be that the battery is worn out and won't take a charge, or it may be you have a short or an electrical item that is drawing current even when the ignition is off.
If you have an ammeter/voltmeter/ohmmeter you could put it between the - battery clamp and the -post of the battery to see what the current draw is when everything is shut down (including having the door closed so no courtesy light are drawing current). The current draw (which is called the ignition off draw) as shown on the meter should be less and 100 milliamps. If not, then we'll have to do some more sleuthing.
But in any case, recharge and reassess whether your battery is any good. If it is near the end of its warranty life that would be a reason to replace it.
