Chrysler Repair: 91 Lebaron: Acc. Drive Belt comes off in rain, alignment problem, splash shield

3.0 liter engine. Drive belt has come off 5 times within a year. Mechanic replaced the belt & tensioner on the second & 4th failures respectively. Seems to happen in heavy rain after driving about 2-5 miles. Last time the AC was on. Could I have some type of alignment problem?

HI Clay,
I believe you are missing a water splash shield between the right front tire well and the engine compartment. So take a look at that wheel well inner surface and see if there is a direct splash path from the tire at the road surface up to the front of the engine and the pulleys. If so, then figure out a shield to intercept the splash, or go to a pull-it-youself wrecking yard and see how it is dealt with on a similar Lebaron and take the part out, install it on your car.
