Chrysler Repair: Town&Country headlights blinking?, body control module, theft security

Question
My wife's 2001 van wouldn't start after work tonight.  At some point during the day while she was at work, the front headlights began blinking.  The battery wore down and she needed a jump to start it up.  The drive home re-charged the battery but the blinking continued - even with no keys in the ignition.  I unhooked the battery to make it stop.  when I re-hooked up the battery, no more blinking.  Any ideas what may have caused this?  Not sure if the problem will start up again in the future, I am leaving it unhooked for the night.

Answer
Hi Craig,
I suspect that this is a malfunction of the theft security system which is initiated from the body control module which activates the headlamp low beam relay. You might try avoiding the arming of the theft system by not securing the doors by any means other than the manual push buttons; don't secure by means of the power locks, the keys, or the remote. It may be that something is setting off your alarm falsely. Usually the vehicle will also blow its horn and prevent you from starting until it is disarmed, but if the system is reset then those last two features don't occur until 20 ignition key cycles.
So give that a try and see what happens with this issue. Try disarming the system by lock/unlock either front door for now.
