Chrysler Repair: 1992 3.0 V-6 no start, crank puller, orange wire

Question
QUESTION: Hi Roland,
I ran out of follow up questions. I did change the plugs, wires, rotor and cap, and Iam aware of the offset in distribuor ports, doubled checked wires and as per diagram and markings on cap. I do not have constant voltage at the injectors, I only get 12v+ on the dark green/orange wire when the ignition is in the stsrt position. The codes are still 12& 55.
Thanks, Joe.

ANSWER: Hi Joe,
That is not the issue, the 12V  should be there on the dark green/ orange when you crank it over, and of course for about 1 second or so when you first turn it to 'run'. But the issues is what is happening at the other wire of each injector. Each should pulse to ground for a moment every other revolution of the engine. You may have to look at an ohm reading on the wires rather than a voltage reading if it is "floating" when it isn't grounded; other wise it would read 12 and pulse to ground briefly. You can check it either connected or disconnected from the injector, except that if you do it connected each of those wires would read 12v(because the dark green/orange is at 12V) but then it should show a quick pulse to ground as the engine is turning over. All six wires would behave that way, only they would be 120 degrees out of synch with each other as the firing order is followed. You may be able to observe this by hand cranking it with a ratchet on the crank puller bolt. But if the ASD won't close because of the slow rate of cranking then forget this approach. If you aren't getting those pulses then I would expect that one of the sensors in the distributor isn't working. However you are getting spark, so it would have to be the cam position sensor that is not working. But that should cause a code 54.

QUESTION: Hi Roland,
I went thru all the wiring from the controller to each injector, found some bad wire connections, repaired and retryed, no luck. Since I seem not to be getting any codes I suspect it might be a timing Issue. Im going to revisit that beast in a week when I get back from chicago. Thanks again for all your help and paitence, If I should need you again I will contact you. Bye and Thanks, Joe

Answer
Thanks for the report. You might want to verify all the connections that you took apart to be sure that something wasn't misconnected. And do a compression test since you seem to feel the intake manifold vacuum is lower than expected. The spark timing is 12 BTDC at idle with temp sensor disconnected, but starting there at rest is reasonable and then once you can get it to idle then re-set it.
