Chrysler Repair: Plastic vent lines, 96 Caravan Grand, efi systems, vent lines

Question
Gave this question to Kevin, but the answer was not helpful.

A squirrel chewed holes in the plastic vent lines from the gas filler to the tank in my 96 Caravan Grand.

Dropped tank.  All looks fine except those plastic lines.  They look like accordions--fine ridges except at elbows.

The connections to the filler are just a force fit.  The filler tubes have rubber seals roughly like o-rings on the ends.

OEM sites do not list the lines.  Dealer is a long way off.

Anything wrong with using conventional fuel hose and clamps to replace the plastic?

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Gene,
So long as the tubes are labelled EFM/EFI that will be acceptable. If you use clamps make sure that the straps are for EFI systems and have a rolled edge so as not to cut into the tubes. I can't be sure about the fit between the "quick release" fittings and the replacement tubing if that is what you are describing at the ends. It may be the case that if you simply buy a new filter (for a '98 model) it will come with new tubing that mates up to the quick release joints. That is how it is set up as shown in the '98 manual that I have.
