Chrysler Repair: immobiliser on S reg chrysler neon, theft system, no start

Question
We had been having an intermittant prob with immobiliser which causes the car to not start. To begin with if you disconnected battery and waited for everything to reset then you could start (AA found this out), well now this does not work. How can we remove the immobiliser and just use the key? Or can anyone suggest where to look for the fault. Have a lovely clean car which does not start and it is so frustrating.

Answer
Hi Elaine,
Because you didn't mention a year model for the car I can't be sure whether I can be of help, so let me know that. I suspect that the wire between the key lock and the body computer is flaky, or something with the remote if you have one is faulty, which means that the theft system is not disarming. The one sure way to avoid this is to never use the power door locks, the door key, or the remote when you leave the car. Rather secure the vehicle by manually pushing the lock buttons on the doors. That way the theft system will not arm.
On looking for the fault, I don't have a Neon manual more recent than '96 so I may not be of help unless I can relate it to another model for your year which I happen to have. But in any case, you have this approach to avoiding the problem. Unfortunately you can't remove the theft system because it is part of the body computer.
