Chrysler Repair: 1995 lebaron 3.0 unstable idle/ hesitation, throttle position sensor, lebaron

Question
Hi Roland I checked for codes on my lebaron and only found the usual 12 and 55. I forgot to mention in my question yesterday that I also replaced the idle control motor and throttle position sensor. I have notice that when I unplug the temp switch that controls the cooling fan that the engine runs fine. It does not have anymore hesitation or rough idle. the drawback is that the check engine light comes on and the fan runs all the time. I have replaced the temp switch twice. I think this is telling me that the problem is with a sensor. Any ideas on where to look?
thanks
Shawn

Answer
Hi Shawn,
The sensor should read 10,000-14,000 ohms when cold, 700-1,000 ohms when hot. The fact that the controller senses when you unplug it suggests that the wiring is OK, but check the tan/black to pin 2 of the controller plug, the black/light blue to pin 4. I am not surprised though, because the unplugged situation is not a normal mode in that other sensors may also be modified by doing that. Check the other things that I mentioned in my first response. Does it run off idle OK?
