QuestionQUESTION: i was driving my car yesterday and when i was riving at a red light when my car just turned itself off. i looked under the hood and i hear a clicking noise where the fuses go. as i opened the fuse box i found out where the clicking noise was at, it was under the auto shutdown relay fuse. what does that mean? oh by the way i own a 1999 chrysler lhs.
ANSWER: Hi Alex,
The manual doesn't show the detail as to what is 'under' fuse N (30 amp). Did you try pulling the ASD relay to see if it stopped (with the engine running of course that will stop the engine too). If you can see what is under it, then I could perhaps explain. Maybe the fuse itself was opening and closing due to crack in its wire, so try a new fuse.

QUESTION: thanks for the reply. yes i pulled out the ASD relay fuse and after that the noise stoped. this morning i started my car up and the ony way i could keep the car on is steping on the gas pedal.

I would try to get a fault code readout, either for free at an Autozone parts store if there is one near you, or at an independent shop for about $40. Try using the ignition key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window to see if the mileage reading changes to a 4 digit number, or maybe several 4 digit numbers. Either way, let me know these numbers, which will give us a clue and we'll go from there.
By the way, did you use a new fuse, or just take it out and put it back in? Also tell me which engine you have.
