Chrysler Repair: 90 Chrysler 5th ave dies., roland roland, crank sensor

Question
It has codes 11, 42, 21. I replace 02 sensor did not help. If the code 11 is the crank sensor I guess I need to know where it is located. Dies but almost always starts right back up. Thanks for the help Mike

Answer
Hi Mike,
I assume that you have the 3.3L engine, otherwise let me know. The crank sensor is on the side of the engine/trans that is close to the firewall, at the seam between the engine and the transmission, directly over the transmission extension housing (ribbed surface). It is held in place by a single bolt. Remove it and pull the sensor straight out. Put the new sensor straight in leaving the paper spacer on its tip. Press the tip against the metal surface (flex plate of the engine) and while holding in that position tighted the bolt to about 8 or 9 foot pounds to secure that position. The sensor has three wires (orange, gray/black, and black/light blue). The 42 code is for the ASD relay circuit, so that too could be why it is dies.
