Chrysler Repair: engine head torque, dodge intrepid, foot pounds

Question
I have a 1996 dodge intrepid an am replacing a head and would like to know how much to torque it and what the torque pattern is?. Hope you can help.

Answer
Hi Scott,
I assume you have the 3.3L engine: it is tightened

  9   7   3    1    5
       8   4    2    6

four step tightening: 45 foot-pounds
                     65
                     65 again
                     + 1/4 turn with a handle
Then do 9 to 25 foot pounds.
The torque of 1-8 should be at least 90 when you have done the 4 steps; if not then replace the bolt that doesn't meet that spec. Let me know if you have the 3.5L as it is different.
