Chrysler Repair: 98.T&C Fails to start/crank after 3 tries, protection aspects, lock switch

ABOVE MIN-VAN RUNS GREAT BUT ONCE IN AWHILE WHEN WE (WIFE )GOES TO START IT ,IT WILL START BUT STALL LIKE IT RAN OUT OF GAS IT WILL DO THIS APPROX. 3 TURNS THEN NOTHING,WHEN WE GO TO START IT THE NEXT DAY,IT STARTS?

Hi Fred,
This sounds very much like a failure of the vehicle theft security system to disarm. It may be that the wire/switch from the driver's door lock/switch to the body computer that needs to be grounded by the lock switch is beginning to fail. You can try unlocking the passenger side door when this happens as an alternative. Or to get around the system entirely just refrain from using the power door lock switches, the remote, or the door key when you leave the van. Instead merely use the interior manual push-buttons to lock the doors when exiting. That by-passes the security system entirely, but of course defeats the theft protection aspects.
