Chrysler Repair: Chrysler Lebaron tail lights, chrysler lebaron, donor car

Question
QUESTION: Hi I have a damaged '93 lebaron with red and amber tail lights. I found a set of replacement taillights but they are red/black. Will it be possible to adapt the wiring in a way that they will work with these different assemblies?

Thanks a lot

ANSWER: Hi Joe,
I could tell you the answer more accurately if you can tell me the model year of the car from which those assemblies came. I have all the years of diagrams but I would be helped if I could just compare your '93 diagrams with the diagrams from the year of the donor car.
You might also want to check into the question of any mechanical diffences which someone at the Yahoo.com autos group with the name of "the chrysler lebaron club" would perhaps know. Take a look at
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/thechryslerlebaronclub/messages
and then you could join and post that question to the membership of about 2,000 other owners.
Let me know the year and we'll check out the wiring issue.

QUESTION: Hi Roland,
The donor car is in fact a '93 and mine is a late '92. They are both 3.0 V6 coupe's.
Thanks for the lebaron group tip I will check with them too.

Answer
Hi Joe,
I tried to compare the two year's diagrams and they are not identical, but it is hard to say if the bulbs behave identically without a fairly long analysis. And there is also a different set of diagrams depending upon whether or not there is a lamp outage warning system. I can spend some more time on this, but I believe it may be more efficient to inquire at "the Club". Is there no possibility of your finding some amber housings?  Again, someone at the Club may know of wrecking yards near them that have such a vehicle. I would be inclined to try to stick with the '93 so that the car is not "mixed" if at all possible.
