Chrysler Repair: 05 Chysler town & country stalling, independent shop, far ends

Question
QUESTION: Hello, I have an 05 Chrysler T&C. While driving the van you will hear a "ding ding",the gages peg out, and the brake and ABS lights will come on then return to normal in a matter of seconds. Then after that occurring, when coming to a stop or accelerating from stop the van will stall.  You are able to restart van with no problem. Sometimes will notice that gauges will act funny when starting the van. took to dealer and they have advised me to change the battery. But problem still occurs. This is an intermittent problem.
Thank you for your help Brian

ANSWER: Hi Brian,
It is not clear to me that the battery was changed or not.
I would suggest getting a fault code readout for free at an Autozone parts store or for about $40 at an independent shop. Ask for the fault code numbers, names, what they mean and what is recommended to do. Then write back with the results and we can go from there. You might also check the wires that are attached to the - post of the battery to make sure that they are tightly connected at their far ends. You may need to diagnose when it has shut down, but still may have some fault code that will give us a clue.

QUESTION: Roland
Yes, the battery had been changed when advised. While driving home from the dealer the problem had happened again.  I had taken the van to Autozone and there are no fault codes.  I had also taken off and cleaned the negative terminal on the battery, chassis, and engine block ground.  Also cleaned the positive terminal on the battery, alternator, and starter.   It has been hot and humid, so the air conditioning has been running.  the last two days have been cooler, but I been running the air to try to draw more current from the van. I'm thinking that this problem could be a bad ground. I had not yet have had the problem occur since the cleaning of the battery leads. Unless you think that it could be something else.
Thank you
Brian

Answer
Hi Brian,
It may not occur again, so just be ready when/if it does to observe everything that is relevant at the time. Cleaning up the major electric leads may have solved it. Having a voltmeter along would possibly be helpful to trouble shoot when/if you have the problem.
