Chrysler Repair: 2000 Chrysler LHS: A/C COMPRESSOR, 2000 chrysler lhs, chrysler lhs

Question
How do you disconnect the compressor, the belt was just replaced but i think the bearing is shot and I don't want to loose the belt I just had installed. This is the 2nd compressor in two years, why do you think the keep seazing up ?

Answer
Hi Al,
I would go right to the compressor and pull its two wire plug. There is a fuse in the box under the hood (fuse B) that powers the compressor clutch, but it also powers the high speed radiator fan so I wouldn't want to pull that fuse. The compressor could be seizing because of improper amount of internal oil in the refrigerant system. Have you added refrigerant without regard to the oil that is needed as well?
