Chrysler Repair: Gr Caravan wont go when cold, chrysler dealer, drb ii

95 Gr. Caravan - starts OK when cold, trans. will not go FWD or REV for ~ 1 minute (until warm?)at temps below 50'F. Changed fluid and cleaned filter? Any clues?

Hi John,
The oil pressure may be too low due to a faulty pump. That could be measured with a gauge on one of the ports. Other than that, you have checked/changed the other factors than those involving internal wear/rebuild. You might try to get a readout of the transmission for fault codes that might be stored in its controller via a data link connector (rectangular black plug with 8 sockets, 4 on a side) located under the dash on the left end. The fault codes should be 2- digit but be sure whoever does the readout has a reader to get the codes from the transcontroller as the engine fault codes are also 2-digit and can overlap/confuse the situation. A Chrysler dealer with a DRB II can do it, but a good independent trans shop may also be equipped. Let me know the fault code numbers and what you were told they mean, and what they would do, and for how much. At the same place you could have them check the pressure that the pump in the transmission is putting out to see if that is the cause.
