Chrysler Repair: 97 Sebring Convertible: several electrical issues, chrysler sebring convertible, chrysler sebring

Question
97 Chrysler Sebring Convertible 2.5L V6...(mitsubishi)  The car runs smooth and normal 80% of the time.  The odometer display is intermittant, the engine occasionally dies, and the a/c won't work, remote door lock won't work.  I have taken it to both engine and a/c specialists and one thinks all of this is caused by a faulty PCM.

Answer
Hi Chet,
I doubt it is a single problem like the PCM. Let me reflect on these:
the engine dying occasionally maybe the sign of a failing cam (distributor location) or crank sensor. If it starts up after a brief cooldown that would be corroborative. Odometer display could be a circuit board cold solder joint on the dash. A/C won't work could be too low a refrigerant charge or a faulty compressor clutch circuit. Door locks could be the door lock relay (and this may be a silver lining if you have theft system because if you avoid using the power locks/door key when securing it, rather just use the pushbottons to secure, then you can't get refusal to start issues when that system goes bonkers. My suggestion would be to solve each one when it appears and when you can do the testing with a voltmeter to verify specifically what is wrong at that moment. I would work with you on them one at a time, but not all at once!
