Chrysler Repair: 2003 dodge neon sx 2.0, dodge neon, pressure gauge

Question
yesterday morning i started the car and the oil light stayed on.The whole time i drove back and forth it stayed on.I drove the car only once yesterday. Today i drove it and the light is not on. Is there any problem with oil pressure or something is going bad. I just purchased the car a week ago. Any suggestions please

Answer
Hi Nasir,
It is difficult to tell you what is going on. It could be a simple electrical problem (wire to pressure sensor shorted to ground), or it could be too low an amount of oil (did you check the dipstick?) or it could be a defective oil pressure sensor (you could either replace the sensor or buy a pressure gauge and screw that into the sensor mounting hole next to the oil filter and see if you have 5 psi at idle, and at least 30 psi at 3,000 rpm and if not then there is some internal wear on the engine that is excessive). I would not drive it with the light on until this is resolved.
Your question just appeared in the "pool", sorry for the delay.
