Chrysler Repair: 99 Chrysler lhs:security system lockdown, 1999 chrysler lhs, 99 chrysler lhs

Question
hello, i am wondering if you could help me. my 1999 chrysler lhs is in the shop right now having the transmission rebulit,it was supposed to be done monday. tuesday the guy called and said he put everything together and the car wont start and he cant connect to the cpu to get a reading. hes waiting for his "tech guy" to call him back. he thinks it has to do with my security system (factory) because he took the battery out. hes been waiting for 3 days to talk to this tech guy. i need my car. i found that sometime you can reset the alarm if you use the key to manually unlock the front doors but he said thats not working. any suggestions???

Answer
Hi Bobby,
If you have the sentry key immobilizer system (SKIM) and the mechanic has tried 6 tiemes to start unsuccessfully and even the starter motor won't respond, then it may be the case that a diagnostic readout box by Chrysler (DRB III) may have to be brought to the vehicle/or the vehicle brought to a dealer to re-initialize the system. He could try (with the battery connected of course) to leave the hood open and then unlock the decklid and return the key to neutral and see if that might clear the lockdown situation. Other than those two approaches I can't suggest anything simple. Let me know if you don't have the SKIM system.
