Chrysler Repair: hood release: 00 300M, 2000 chrysler 300m, postal mail

I have a 2000 Chrysler 300m and the hood release will not work, is there anyway to get the hood up?

Hi Joni,
Fortunately the latch mechanism has a manual release lever that you can operate from underneath the car. If you will slide under and look upward from the perspective of the rear edge of the bumper (facia) opening and with the help of a flashlight for illumination you will see a long narrow rectangular release "arm/pawl" pointing toward the front of the car, just below the hood surface where the latch mechanism is located. If you reach up and then either push up, pull down, or move to one side or the other (I am not sure which) the latch will release just the same way as it did by means of the handle in the cabin. The cable is either disconnected or broken at one end or the other and there is a replacement procedure for the cable which I can xerox copy and postal mail to you. Use the "thank and rate" tab where there is a comment section for you to enter a postal mailing address.
