the 01 durango has the rear window defoger light flashing all the time and also the a/c stoped working the same time

Hi Buddy,
I don't claim any expertise about the truck line but I have a suspicion that the defogger light flashing is just a control system self-diagnostic/calibration routine telling you that the A/C is not working. It is similar in the van, only the rear wiper light flashes when this happens. So as with most A/C issues I would begin by checking whether the system might be low on refrigerant. I don't know if you have a site glass in the refrigerant lines but if there is one see if you observe and bubbles which is a sign of low level.
