Chrysler Repair: 95 LeBaron GTC no start: 3.0L V-6, wheel drive cars, lebaron gtc

Question
fuel pump activates, flywheel spins, gas is in the tank, but the engine just spins and spins. it threw a code 17. By the looks of it, there isn't a real handy way to check if there's fuel pressure coming to the rail. i couldn't find the pressure valve that i've seen on other cars. could all plugs & wires go out at once? What else may I be missing? I haven't bought the Haynes book yet, is there a better version/brand I should look into? Sorry for the barrage of questions, I'm certainly not an expert :-) thanks in advance

Answer
Hi Ace,
I suggest that you check for spark at one of the plugs while you are cranking it over. If none, then I would suggest that you check the distributor rotor which if bad would kill the spark. I would not focus on the fuel rail pressure yet, but whether or not you have spark and proper mixture. The 17 code makes me wonder if the coolant temp sensor is reading properly. See if it reads 10,000 to 14,000 ohms at it stands. It is located next to the thermostat housing. Just remove plug and read across the two contacts on the sensor.
Those are the tests I would do now. The Haynes manuals are good for most issues, and as far as I know there is none better other than a Chrysler shop manual which you might find used on eBay. The '94 or '95 manual for front wheel drive cars would cover the LeBaron.
