Chrysler Repair: 1988 Caravan 3 speed trans rebuild, junk yard, caravan

My  88 Caravan came with a used replaced 1994 3 spd Trans from a junk yard.  
Is there a problem with this setup? Can I rebuild the 1994 trans and keep it in the 1988 Caravan?

Hi Randell,
I assume that the '88 was originally delivered with a 3-speed torqueflite transmission. If that is the case, then I see no reason why the '94 trans would not work, as this type of unit is of long-standing and appears to not be modified such as to be non-compatible over many years. You could check with a dealer parts department to be sure before investing in the rebuild. But if it seems to have no problems related to non-compatibility now then I see no reason it should not continue to work well after a rebuild.
