Chrysler Repair: 82 No spark, computer memory, distributer

Question
i just emailed you about my lebaron last night an 82 that just crapped out and thought it was the fuel pump or the timing but when i went there to do more investigating this morning we found out that the coil wasnt sparking at all so we replaced it thinking it was bad cause there is power to it but not leaving it to the distributer so bopught a new  coil and its acting the same way what do you think could be causing this malfunction any info helps.

Answer
Hi Darren,
I just noticed your question at the "pool".
You didn't mention the engine type or the fuel system type but if it is a system with a hall effect type sensor in the distributor then my first suspicion would be that the sensor has failed. It is possible to readout a fault code from the computer memory if that is part of your system using a diagnostic reader, but it takes one from that era to do it. The sensor is around $40 so you might try that.
