Chrysler Repair: P0700, labor charges, autozone

Question
I have a 2002 town and country and the engine light came on so I took it to firestone thinking it was a minor problem but they told me that the code P0700 came up meaning there is transmission fault. My question would be, is this an internal or external problem and how much is the labor charges on such a repair?

Answer
Hi Wanda,
I just found your question in the "pool".
If the only code is a 700 then that points toward a fault with the trans control module IF there is no other trans codes stored in the memory. So the bottom line is that. If you don't know the codes for certain then get a readout. Autozone parts stores will do the readout for free.  If it is only a 700 then try a new transmission control module. If there are other codes along with the O700 then they are the governing ones that need to be addressed.
