Question
Hello there, I need some help my speedo and rpm and temp gauge on the cluster works then stops then works then stops. Never drove car just bought it great deal. Would you maybe know what causes this problem thanks.

Answer
Hi Kevin,
Sorry to no have responded sooner, I just found your question in the "pool".
The information to run the gauges comes in on a digital data line pair called the data bus. It may either be a problem with the bus or it could be a solder joint on the dash printed cirucuit board that is the problem. The next time this happens try tapping on the top of the dash to see if that jogs the gauges back into action. If it does, then it is probably the solder joint issue which would mean removing the cluster and resoldering the connections from the plug socket to the circuit board. If it doesn't correct it, then I would get a fault code readout at an Autozone parts store (free) or at an independent shop (~$40). Ask for the code numbers, what they mean, what they recommend, and how much. Then write back and tell me the results and we can compare that to the shop manual.
