Chrysler Repair: serpentine belt on 3.3L V-6 comes off in rain, plymouth grand voyager, voyager 3

Question
On my 1993 Plymouth Grand Voyager 3.3 6 cylinder. Every time it rains, if I hit a puddle the serpentine belt comes off. I had it in the shop 3 times already. What could be the problem?

Answer
Hi Harry,
One possible reason is that the "splash shield" that deflects water that comes off the right front tire from hitting the front of the engine and thus the belt is missing or not mounted properly. There is also a lower inner fender panel that shields the area to the best of my knowledge. I would check at the parts counter of a Chrysler dealer to see what these parts look like on the their computer display screen. Then see if your van is missing a part like the ones I describe.
