Chrysler Repair: 1999 chrysler cirrus/water pump, crankshaft pulley, chrysler cirrus

Question
QUESTION: How to replace water pump on a 1999 Chrysler Cirrus?

ANSWER: Hi Dave,
It is a fairly long job requiring removing the crankshaft pulley, supporting the engine with a floor jack, removing one engine mount, taking off the timing belt, and finally gaining access to the pump which is mounted to the block and driven by the timing belt. You would want to have a manual to do it because you also have to reset the timing belt to mesh the crankshaft to the cam shaft properly. The Haynes manual #25015 is a reasonable reference for the job. If you can't find one at an auto parts store or library I can xerox and postal mail you the pages to do the job. It costs me 10 cents per side plus postage. You can reimburse me with 41 cent stamps to cover my costs after you receive the pages. Tell me which engine you have. Use the "thank and rate" tab to list your postal mailing address in the comments section. You will need a torque wrench to get bolts set properly. If the timing belt is nearing 100,000 miles it would be prudent to replace that while you do the water pump.

QUESTION: Thanks for the quick response Roland!  I saw that our local library may have a copy of the Haynes manual, and will check tomorrow.  Does the manual provide you with step by step work instructions??
Also, please provide me with cost for the copies that I need, and shipping so I have that info just in case.  How do I go about reimbursing you?  Let me know.

Thanks,
Dave

Answer
Hi Dave,
Yes the Haynes will be sufficient. The pump is described in chapter three, and the timing belt, etc. in chapter 2. The Chrysler shop manual covers it in four pages, so I could do that at a small enough cost as to not be worth your spending 41 cents to send me 82 cents costs. Take a look at the Haynes and then let me know. I assume you have the 2.5L V-6, otherwise let me know.
