Chrysler Repair: 1990 labaron coupe:theft alarm wont clear, side fender, labaron

Question
Hi Roland, one more Question. being that I can not find another security alarm module can I just change the main computer on the passenger side fender. If so what do I need to do to ensure that one doesn't hard lock. Thanks again for your time on this problem. I had the module tested and it is dead and I was told the car will not start with out itbut if there is away to get around it i will do it.

Answer
Hi Derrick,
Given that the body computer in 1990 was much simpler than in later models where the vehicle theft security system became an integral part of it, I would conjecture that changing out the body computer alone may be a safe thing to do. I would give that a try, as if that unit is dead you will not be able to clear the problem in any case. If it works and you can clear the situation by shorting out one of the wires on your theft module as I described, then you have done it. If not, it means towing the vehicle to a dealer, if indeed your description of the "run for a few seconds" truly is due to an alarmed situation which is only resolved by intervention with a DRB II.
