Chrysler Repair: hesitation in 300m, exhaust gas recirculation, wd 40

Question
I have a 2002 Chrysler 300m and it hesitates between 15 and 25mph, but only when you slow down or go around a corner with out completely coming to a stop. It does not happen in any other gear. I just don't know where to start. So if you have any ideas of what it could be I would love to hear them.  Thank you for your time!

Answer
Hi Eric,
Two possible approaches:
Get a fault code readout at an Autozone parts store if one is nearby, for free, or go to an independent shop and pay about $40 for the readout. Get the 4-digit fault codes, if any, ask then what they mean and whether they would be involved in the hesistation issue. You can write back and we can check that against the manuals.
The other possibility is that the egr valve (exhaust gas recirculation) is not closing tightly which it has to do when you close the throttle as the mixture will otherwise lean out which would cause a hesitation. You may or may not get a code for the egr so if not you could still remove it and clean out the passageway and lubricate the valve stem with WD-40 to make sure it moves to the closed position via spring pressure.
