Chrysler Repair: 2001 Dodge Caravan Sport, independent auto repair, dodge caravan

Question
Lately my van has started jerking and jaking, and last week I've notice that when it starts jerking the speedometer hand goes wild all the way to 120miles, and that when it starts jerking and stalling and its like I'll give it gas but the gas is not going where its suppose to can you please help I need my van.

Answer
Hi Deshia,
The most efficient to begin is by getting a readout of fault codes that might have been recognized by the engine controller and stored in its memory. Such a readout can often be obtained free at an Autozone parts store or for maybe about $40 at an independent auto repair shop. The code numbers have 4 digits, preceded by a P. Ask for the specific numbers, what they mean, what is the repair, and how much. Then write me back and we'll compare what you were told with the shop manuals. Tell me which size engine is in your van, please.
