Chrysler Repair: 91 lebaron transmission shifts hard, manual roland, fuse box

Question
Hello,
I hope you can help me w/ a problem I'm having w/ my 91 lebaron. The car is equipped w/ a 3.0 engine and automatic w/ overdrive. the problem seems to be the downshifting of the transmission. When coming to a stop the trans seems to be in second gear, when accelerating the trans shifts down harshly about every third time you stop and go. I haved replaced the fluid and filter but It has not seemed to help.
Any helpful imformation will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,  Ronn

Answer
Hi Ronn,
The best thing to do is go to an independent trans shop that has diagnotic readout box with a Chrysler 6-pin data link connector which will match a blue socket on the left end of the dash behind the door that accesses the fuse box. Make sure they have an appropriate reader. Then get a code readout which will be 2-digit numbers which will give a clue as to what is wrong. Then ask for the numbers, what they mean, how much to repair it. Then write me back and we can compare that to the Chrysler shop code manual.
