Chrysler Repair: 2000 Sebring convert. possible water leak, lebaron convertible, rubber flap

Question
I have a 2000 Sebring convertible that may have a water leak problem.  I just bought it a week ago so I don't know history of the car.
Is there some type of drainage channel or hole that water from the convert. top drains into?  My trunk had alot of water in it under the spare tire.  But we don't see anything that could cause a leak.  We have not had rain, but we had snow and I wonder if some got in and melted.
Thanks

Answer
Hi Sherri,
Examine the underside of the body directly in front of the rear wheels. You will likely find a rubber flap on each side which covers a drain hole that will allow the water, that inevitably leaks into the area under the rear of the top, to drain away. There is probably some debris that has blocked the drain holes so insert a stiff wire into the hole and keep checking it as the water drains out. Continue to check these drain holes to keep them open. What I have described is how it was handled on the LeBaron convertible and I assume a similar provision exits for the Sebring. If you don't have an owners manual you might ask a dealer (or another owner) if there are other provisions for draining the "well".
